What Will Stand Out In 2020?

We’re here, it’s the Twenty-Twenties and what could be the top trends this year?

Well I personally think this year is going to be a HUGE year! Not just because of wedding trends, but because it’s also the year that I get married too! It is rather strange because as a wedding supplier, I am constantly inundated with suppliers asking me if I have this or that booked yet and would they like me to be part of their wedding ha ha!

But enough about me, let’s reveal my top wedding trends…

Sustainable weddings

Weddings can be a very expensive day and there are lots of opportunities to reduce waste. So this year my Number 1 trend is the idea of having a sustainable wedding. There are so many components that go into a wedding that this year, couples will be making conscious efforts to reduce their impact on the environment to create an Eco-friendly wedding.

A focus on reusable and recyclable items such as cutlery, glassware, confetti and even other ideas such as travel plans are all great ways to make an eco-friendly wedding.

For example in a destination wedding, there is potential for air, rail or car travel. Not only is the price increasing here, but also the impact to the environment too. Now although we want to make sure that we all get our dream wedding, there are some ways that we can help reduce our carbon footprint whilst still having the best day of our lives.

Some simple ideas are provided below.

  • Online invites

  • Eco-friendly menus

  • reusable decor

  • ethical Bridal/Groomswear

  • Choice of venue

Feeling A Little Blue?

Don’t worry, I’m not sad. Instead I am pleased to see it’s the colour blue that will stand out for 2020! As we move into the year, the Classic Blue highlights the desire for a dependable and stable foundation which is going to be very important for the new decade.

The classic blue In-stills calm, confidence, and connection.

This colour will certainly give venue decorators and designers a great choice to mix lighter shades of blues with yellows & grey, which in turn will create a beautiful setting for a wedding.

Whether your style of day is minimalist or you are making a grand statement, this colour offers a point of difference that will make your wedding party & day stand out from the rest!

VIP’S - Very Important Pets!

Our cherished love ones of course! Why not?

Personalising your wedding is a great step in really making your day a little more unique. In 2019, I saw many couples bring their loved ones to their day. Either as guests, ring bearers or a surprise appearance along with the family for a personalised photo during the drinks reception. At one wedding I even had to look after the Brides dog! (That’s a story for another time!)

And why not right? They are our family and they mean a lot to us.

Even if you don’t want to bring them to your day, you could still have them be part of the wedding with these simple ideas.

  • Mention them in the speech

  • Photos on the invites / stationary

  • Include them into the cake design

  • Or even photos of them decorated around the venue.

There are many suppliers who now offer home sitting & pet services for your day and if you want to include your loved one, then check them out for some fantastic services!

How do you really make your day more fun & personalised? Well this year I believe we are going to see an increase to the attention of detail and the focus on more personalised days.

Whether it’s for personalised stationary, favourite movie or holiday seating plans, there is so much that you can add to the day to make it feel more personal.

Of course, it’s very easy to get swamped into creating your own vision yourself, but I would highly recommend contacting a wedding stylist and venue decorator. They can provide you with some amazing ideas to help and inspire you to make sure that you create your dream day! Check them out you won’t regret it!

Let Me Entertain You!

No not me.. but If you want me I can check my diary!

Weddings are all about having a great time, the one big day that you will probably only have all of your friends and family together in the same room. So why not celebrate with the biggest party ever!

If you have never been to a wedding before, they are really, REALLY long days. There are so many lulls in the day and it’s a great idea to keep all of your guests engaged and entertained during those boring moments.

Picture this, you have been planning your wedding for years. Everyone has travelled all across the country to your big day and you are so excited! You have a beautiful ceremony and then the photographer takes you away for an hour to get some amazing shots of you and your new married partner.

What do your guests do? … They stand around and do 3 things.

  1. They talk about the weather

  2. They talk about their work

  3. And they look at their watch and say “When’s the food ready?”

You don’t want this on your special day right? So what can you do? Well I am here to help, hiring a magician like myself, a musician or a singer are just some great ways for you to engage all of your guests and keep them talking about your wedding long after it’s finished.

Weddings are all about having fun, and entertainment is usually the last thing to book. It’s whats known as a wedding extra. So make sure you have some budget in your plans this year to keep all your guests engaged and energised. I guarantee the photos will look amazing!
